Announcement: We are very sorry to inform you that we are no longer funded, to provide pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and early parenting education, by the Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast District Health Boards. This unfortunately means that, at the moment, we are unable to offer you many of our courses. We do have some spaces left on a few courses for the remainder of 2021 – please take a look. We are sorry if you are unable to find what you are looking for. We are going to take some time to regroup and make some changes. Please check back with us in early 2022.

Between 10-20 mums out of 100 will suffer from antenatal and/or postnatal distress (PND) – depression or anxiety or both.

This 3-hr session will provide information about PND, so you know how to recognise the symptoms and be able to make a ‘game plan’ so that you can get back to your best self.

Partners and babies are welcome as they may be affected too.

Some of the topics covered in this 3-hour course:

  • What is PND? Depression? Anxiety? Both?
  • Can it start during pregnancy?
  • Who is at risk?
  • What are the symptoms?
  • Common scary feelings and thoughts.
  • It’s ok to not be ok! To feel overwhelmed and anxious
  • Where can I go for help?
  • What can I do until I get the help I need?
  • Suggestions for partners and whanau
  • Tips on baby’s normal behaviours that sometimes can be very confusing and add stress

At birthEd we want to create the best learning environment we can for you and your partner. Our small class sizes mean that you’ll get an opportunity to have the best face-to-face training we can provide, and have all your questions answered.

Out of the Blues is $30 for you and your support partner.

Please click the book now button and either use PayPal to complete your purchase and register on a course.

Keeping You Informed:  The funding we have received from the Hutt Valley District Health Board over the last 17 years is sadly coming to an end on the 30th of September 2021. This unfortunately means that we will be unable to continue to offer this course to women and their support partners in the Hutt Valley.
